Change?

I have a cold, which is totally awesome. Why is it awesome, you ask? Oh, because it matches my cold sore, perfectly. The cold sore is awesome because I have a job interview tomorrow. Natch. Clearly my mind is ready to accept change, but my body is not.

One change that I have been eager for since the year 2000 is this terrible, terrible administration. Long have I thought that there couldn't possibly be someone worse for this country than George W. Bush. No one as manipulative, hypocritical, and just plain wrong.

Then, out of no where (although I suspect there is a smoking hole in the earth's crust somewhere that she may have found exit from) comes Sarah Palin. The woman is a monster. She elicits such rage from me, that I have the same reaction do to anything news surrounding Palestine--I just have to shut off whatever is talking to me about her as soon as possible. In addition to being the type of person who will go out of her way to make it possible to shoot cute, endangered animals out of airplanes, she also believes abortion should be banned in all cases including rape and incest, yet also believes that we should have "consumer-based" health care, which is basically the broke-ass, expensive, predatory HMO system we have now. Basically, society will force you to make a family even if that's not your wish, but they sure as hell won't pay for it.

I know I am preaching to the choir and should just be like Angelic Mr. Obama and gently turn the other cheek, but I just hate this woman on a visceral level and can't believe that there is actually someone worse than Bush. And speaking of Obama, it's time for him to expose some of the hypocricy at work here and speak for all the people who are angry. Or is this really where America is?

Here are some things that MoveOn wants you to know about her, after her speech:

* Palin recently said that the war in Iraq is "God's task." She's even admitted she hasn't thought about the war much—just last year she was quoted saying, "I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq."

* Palin has actively sought the support of the fringe Alaska Independence Party. Six months ago, Palin told members of the group—who advocate for a vote on secession from the union—to "keep up the good work" and "wished the party luck on what she called its 'inspiring convention.'"
* Palin wants to teach creationism in public schools. She hasn't made clear whether she thinks evolution is a fact.
* Palin doesn't believe that humans contribute to global warming. Speaking about climate change, she said, "I'm not one though who would attribute it to being manmade."
* Palin has close ties to Big Oil. Her inauguration was even sponsored by BP.
* Palin is extremely anti-choice. She doesn't even support abortion in the case of rape or incest.
* Palin opposes comprehensive sex-ed in public schools. She's said she will only support abstinence-only approaches.
* As mayor, Palin tried to ban books from the library. Palin asked the library how she might go about banning books because some had inappropriate language in them—shocking the librarian, Mary Ellen Baker. According to Time, "news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor."
* She DID support the Bridge to Nowhere (before she opposed it). Palin claimed that she said "thanks, but no thanks" to the infamous Bridge to Nowhere. But in 2006, Palin supported the project repeatedly, saying that Alaska should take advantage of earmarks "while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist."

I'm gong back to bed.
